Nintendo announced the date of its next Nintendo Direct, which will take place on June 11 (Thursday) at 1 p.m. Brasília time. It will feature Nintendo's E3 2019 announcements, while several other companies will make announcements through their own conferences and during the trade show itself. As usual, Nintendo opted for a prerecorded digital conference rather than following other companies that prefer to appear on one of the event's stages.

In addition to the Direct, Nintendo also announced the dates of its Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 tournaments, whose preliminary rounds took place throughout the year in several regions of the world. Both will be held on June 8.

During the three days of E3, which runs from June 11 to 13, Nintendo will also broadcast its Nintendo Treehouse livestream, where it will provide more information about future releases, as it did in previous years.

The most likely news for the Direct, beyond unannounced titles, includes more information about Super Mario Maker 2, which launches that same month; Fire Emblem: Three Houses; Astral Chain; Pokémon Sword & Shield; the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening; and other games already announced. The second DLC character in the Fighters Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may also be announced, since the first, Joker, was announced six months ago, back in 2018.

The absence of Nintendo 3DS games is also nearly certain, since the company had already confirmed that it was not developing software for the system. Third-party companies developing for the system may nevertheless make announcements at one of the E3 conferences, including the Nintendo Direct itself.

This Direct will be the first sinceReggie Fils-Aimé left his position as president of Nintendo of America. Since he regularly appeared in these conferences, new president Doug Bowser can be expected to make an appearance.

Nintendo will be the last of the "major" companies to hold its conference, since June 11 coincides with the start of E3 itself, where the announced titles are exhibited.
