As announced in February, the day came for Reggie Fils-Aimé to retire as president of Nintendo of America.
Since Reggie was beloved by the community, many worried that he would no longer be active in the industry. Fortunately, there seems to be no reason for concern: he recently created a Twitter account, and the timing suggests that he wants to remain in touch with the community.
On that account, Reggie has been remembering iconic moments from his career, already creating a feeling of nostalgia.
In one of the tweets, he discusses his first appearance as president of Nintendo of America, at E3 2004, showing his credential. Reggie references the phrase that defined his presence from then on: "My name is Reggie. I'm about kickin ass, I'm about taking names, and we're about making games." . In Portuguese, one possible translation would be "My name is Reggie. My thing is kicking asses, my thing is taking names, and our thing is making games."

The legend began here... my E3 credential, 2004. 'My name is Reggie...'
On the 17th, Reggie showed some of the retirement gifts he received at his final retirement events. The funniest gift is a plastic butt for him to kick. Together with the "notebook of names taken," they allude to the phrase mentioned earlier.

My final retirement events were tonight. I received wonderful gifts and souvenirs. Yes, that is a working Virtual Boy. Art from Retro Studios. A notebook of names taken. A plastic butt for me to kick. A notebook with messages from employees. And a Mario statuette. It is the end of an era.
These certainly were not Reggie's only gifts, since exploring his Twitter reveals even more objects, including a customized amiibo and a "thank you" pamphlet from Nintendo itself.
Among these gifts, however, Retro Studios' artwork stands out. Not only because of the beautiful illustration, but also because the photo appears to conceal a character with a metal hand. No one has identified it so far, and it may belong to a new, still-unrevealed IP.

The hidden character's hand can be seen behind the Mario statuette
When leaving his office, Reggie took a lot with him, but left a special gift for Doug Bowser, the next president: a Master Sword. There is no better gift, since the sword represents a legacy passed from person to person.

The Master Sword was left behind. Ready for the next hero to fight for Wisdom, Courage, and Power. Thank you, @NintendoAmerica.
Reggie had been president of Nintendo of America since 2004 and played a part in the success of consoles such as the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii. With incredible charisma, Reggie won over fans and industry members, giving us memorable and amusing moments. Now, in 2019, Reggie retires perhaps at his peak and will be greatly missed. This is not the last time we will hear from him, but it is time to celebrate the end of this era and the beginning of another.
We know that Reggie left Nintendo of America in good hands and that, whatever happens, his body is ready for the future.
