Brasil Game Jam: Encouraging the Domestic Market
Brasil Game Jam is an initiative by the event's organizers in partnership with TV Globo, intended to further promote and encourage Brazil's game-development market. Ten teams compete across 48 hours of development, seeking to create the best game among the entries. The productions also face a public vote, with event visitors able to play the developed games, which are in turn evaluated by a jury of TV Globo directors and gaming experts.
Meet N Greet: Canon at BGS
Want to take that selfie and capture great moments with a YouTube content creator, TV host, or icon who played a role in developing or publishing games? BGS will feature celebrities "in droves," including Totoro from Porta dos Fundos; Danilo Gentili, host of The Noite; Hideo Kojima; YouTubers such as Cauê, Malena, Spok, and Lipão Gamer; GTA artist Stephen Bliss; and more.
Videogame Evolution Space and the Arcade Arena
Introduced at the previous edition, the Arcade Arena is an area with dozens of arcade machines available for visitors to play as much as they want, free of charge! Fans can enjoy everything from classics such as The King of Fighters and Metal Slug to innovative racing simulators, basketball, motorcycles, and much more.
Meanwhile, the "Evolution of Videogames" exhibition presents more than four decades of videogame history through over 100 consoles, as well as dozens of games and accessories. It ranges from first-generation systems (Odyssey 300 and Super Pong) to the eighth and current generation (PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch).
Clash Royale, LoL, Dota 2, and Counter Strike Championships
The name speaks for itself. The enormous Brasil Game Cup will have an exclusive area hosting championship finals for some of the biggest competitive games currently on the global market. Players from across Brazil, and even some international competitors, are expected to attend.
Contests and Special Entry for Cosplayers
Source: Lock Gamer
Last year, in addition to the cosplay contests, in which the best costumes won the Kinoplex Passport granting one year of free cinema admission, cosplayers could also enjoy exclusive benefits. These included separate, queue-free entry for cosplayers in costume or carrying their costume accessories, men's and women's changing rooms, fitting areas with mirrors, and lockers for their belongings. All the benefits are listed on the event's official website, and it is worth checking if you intend to attend in costume.
Indie Avenue and 'Indie Meeting'
For the second consecutive year, dozens of independent studios were able to participate in the *Indie Meeting*, an area where each indie exhibitor had the opportunity to present their projects to the public. In this way, BGS's Indie Pavilion established itself as "a meeting point for a thriving market," according to its promotional material. Which indie games will we have this year? If you follow this field, you cannot miss it.
YouTube Content Creators and Twitch Streamers
In addition to Meet N Greet: Canon, various streamers and content creators will be spread throughout the event. Want to look at the list? Some of those confirmed include Zangado Games, Patife, Muca Muriçoca, and Aruan Felix in the RedFox area. Among many others, there will also be the previously mentioned Totoro, Malena, Lipão Gamer, Spok, Cauê: Baixa Memória and Guima, Zeal, Nanda Play, and others at various Meet N Greets.
Kojima, the Man Behind Metal Gear Solid and 'Silent Hills'...
Hideo Kojima is considered a living gaming legend by many. The creator chiefly responsible for the Metal Gear franchise and widely regarded as the father of the "stealth" genre in games also has other projects on his résumé, such as Snatcher, Zone of the Enders, and the legendary horror-thriller success Playable Teaser (P.T). More recently, Kojima was responsible for directing, scripting, game design, and production on the critically acclaimed latest chapter in the METAL GEAR series: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
With numerous nominations and awards as an influential icon beyond the game industry itself, Hideo Kojima now has his own studio, called Kojima Productions, and is currently working on his next PlayStation 4 exclusive, Death Stranding, starring Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen.
... Along with Ed Boon (Mortal Kombat), Bushnell (Atari), Stephen (GTA), and Crane (Pitfall)
Although the hype around master Kojima is high because this is his first visit to an event of this size in Brazil, many other equally important people will be present. They include Ed Boon, creator of Mortal Kombat and Injustice, who is already familiar with Brazilians and has even played a few matches with fans before. Have you ever imagined interacting this way with some of the creators of your favorite franchises? Here is a list of other people attending (the complete list is available onlyon the 10th BGS edition's website): Hector Sanchez (Annapurna Interactive), Nolan Bushnell (creator of the Atari 2600), David Crane (Activision cofounder and creator of Pitfall), and Stephen Bliss (artwork for GTA and The Warriors).
See you there!
