In addition to the live-action movie planned for 2026, the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise is preparing to receive a new game. The title, called He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, promises to take players into the past with classic gameplay and a nostalgia-filled visual style.

The trailer revealed a 2D beat 'em up with pixel-art visuals inspired by the 1980s, bringing back the nostalgic atmosphere that defined generations. Developed by Bitmap Bureau in partnership with Limited Run Games, the title will be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Along with reviving a retro aesthetic, the game promises to unite longtime and new fans in an action-packed cooperative experience. The project carries an official Mattel license, ensuring fidelity to the franchise's characters and universe as He-Man and his allies once again confront the forces of Skeletor.

Gameplay, Retro Style, and Trailer

Dragon Pearl of Destruction embraces a classic formula that has been gaining strength in the gaming market: the return of pixel-art beat 'em ups. With up to 12 stages packed with enemies and dynamic combat, the game offers intense battles featuring special attacks, power-ups, and the striking presence of Battle Cat, who assists the heroes in their fights. The goal is to deliver an arcade-like experience with modern touches that deepen immersion.

Players will be able to control iconic characters such as He-Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms, each with their own abilities for facing hordes of classic villains. Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and other enemies appear as major challenges throughout the campaign, reinforcing the proposal to revisit the historic rivalry that defined the franchise in the 1980s.
