The producer of the Resident Evil 2 remake, Tsuyoshi Kanda, told VG247 in an interview about some of the changes made to the game in search of a balance that would not disappoint longtime fans while also appealing to new fans of the series.

The current production team is made up of a mix of employees, from collaborators who helped produce the first version to series fans who are now at the company. This really helps balance the game so it does not lose its essence while still fitting in with other modern games, bringing even more horror than its first version.

What attracted the most attention, however, was the appearance of some characters, especially Ada Wong. The spy, who previously wore a red dress and had her face completely uncovered, now undergoes a transformation in which most of her body is covered by a coat and dark glasses to hide her identity.

To defend the change, Tsuyoshi said in the interview: “Ada ... she took a long time. I mean, you think about it — she appears, and her concept is a mysterious woman ... so she appears in a red cocktail dress in the original game. In Resident Evil 4 you are in a village in Spain and then she ... appears in this red Chinese dress, like "I'm a spy, by the way ..." You will stand out in Spain wearing that! [laughs] We just really tried to decide that ... if she is a spy, then she needs a more classic spy look — someone who is trying to blend in. It really took a long time to get right.”

Resident Evil 2 is scheduled for release on January 25, 2019. Check out the new trailer:
