This is not the first time Bethesda has been questioned about how it produces games for the current market. With the video-game scene focused on multiplayer games, Bethesda has followed a path that is not primarily focused on this style, seeking a balance between players who prefer to follow a story alone and players who play online in groups.

This decision has produced games filled with excellent experiences for players, earning deserved recognition from consumers and specialized critics.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Bethesda vice president Pete Hines reaffirmed the company's position regarding single-player games.

When asked about the company's view of the balance between single-player and multiplayer games, Hines replied that both styles should remain part of its future.

"Bethesda's next game after this [Fallout 76] will be Starfield, which is certainly single-player. Our next game as a publisher will be Rage 2 — decisively single-player. We are also making DOOM Eternal, which has multiplayer but is quite solid in the experience it offers, so we will continue to support single-player experiences." said Pete, to the relief of Bethesda fans and fans of its franchises.

Fallout 76 is officially the first game in the Fallout franchise with an online multiplayer mode. Its predecessor was Fallout 4.
