Mass Effect: Andromeda was a controversial game in the history of the respected Mass Effect franchise. Many expected more from the game that would continue one of the greatest trilogies in gaming history. Critics and even members of the development team believed that the series would be 'shelved' and would not be part of BioWare's future plans.
That was the case until recent statements from BioWare's senior staff, who revealed that the franchise is not over.
In a recent interview with Polygon, Mark Darrah, executive producer of Anthem and the Dragon Age series, said: "Mass Effect is definitely not over. We could connect it with Andromeda and Mass Effect 3. There is a lot of interesting space to explore".
On another occasion, BioWare manager Casey Hudson also stated: "The Mass Effect franchise is very much alive. We are constantly thinking about things we believe are great. It is only a matter of coming back to it as soon as we can."
BioWare producer Michael Gamble, in turn, commented on Twitter: "BioWare is obviously not finished making Mass Effect games."
Apparently, the company is focused on its current shooter Anthem and then on the sequel to Dragon Age, but all signs suggest that after these major titles, the Mass Effect franchise will return. We will wait for more information about this.
