The setting of Fallout has always mixed reality with plenty of science fiction. But if you, as a fan of the series or a terrorist (we hope it is the former), would like to experience a familiar place being struck by an atomic or nuclear bomb, a website simulates atomic explosions in real cities with data showing the results that such a bomb would cause there.
The idea came from a researcher at SIT (Stevens Institute of Technology) who created the website to simulate atomic and nuclear bomb explosions in any city on Google Maps, leading us to consider whether we would be safe if our cities suffered an attack.
To try the simulation, simply enter the desired place—or rather, where you live—set the explosive yield using known bombs such as "Fat Man" and "Little Boy" (bombs dropped on Japanese territory during World War II), or even create one using the basic settings. Once everything is configured as desired, simply "detonate" the bomb. The site will then show the results of what the bomb would cause in your city.

Like the idea? Curious? There are two versions: to see the standard version, click here; for the 3D version, click here; and have fun imagining Fallout in the real world.
