In today's highly diverse independent-production landscape, YVY stands out by presenting a perspective rarely explored in games: the colonization of Brazil in the 16th century. Developed by EliGD Games in partnership with Plural Filmes, the title is scheduled for release on PC through Steam in the first half of 2025.

YVY combines adventure, strategy, and Indigenous fantasy in an autobattler with somewhat unusual mechanics based on customizable dice rolls. Players must defend the fictional region of Pindó from the Capra Branca invaders, using an innovative dice-customization system that makes it possible to create unique combinations of abilities for confronting the game's challenges. The title also incorporates rogue-lite elements, with randomly generated maps and a series of events that, according to the studio, promise to enrich the experience.

What may interest some people most, however, is YVY's central theme: a reinterpretation of Brazil's colonization portrayed from the perspective of Indigenous peoples, a subject that the developers say remains rarely explored in the game industry. “We wanted to bring forward a story that, besides entertaining, would also lead players to reflect on the resistance and struggles of Indigenous peoples,” the development team commented.

The game's production was made possible by the 2019 Santa Catarina Cinema Award, which granted 300,000 reais to the game-production category. With the funding, the team assembled a diverse group that included hiring Indigenous professionals to work in areas such as concept art, writing, music, and consulting, ensuring cultural authenticity in the project.

The game already has an official Steam page, where players can follow news and add the title to their wishlists. As shown above, the teaser trailer for YVY is already available, offering a taste of what awaits fans of games that combine strategy, luck, and a rich, engaging narrative.

As the project's creator explained to our team at Eu, Brasileiro, the game's play is also inspired by titles such as Loop Hero, Slay the Spire, and Pokémon Quest, promising to become a distinguished addition to the independent-game landscape in 2025.
