Publisher Accolade and developer Choice Provisions announced that Bubsy: Paws on Fire! will launch for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC through Steam in April 2019, although a more specific date has not been set. A Kickstarter campaign was also started to raise funds for future DLC.
The goal of the Kickstarter campaign is US$25,000. The downloadable content planned for after the game's launch includes two new costumes for Bubsy, new objectives, an undisclosed playable character, new stages, and a new boss.
Among the advantages and rewards for Kickstarter backers are a game code, the DLC content mentioned above, the original soundtrack, a limited physical edition of the game for PlayStation 4, a collection of Bubsy games, and another collection of Runner games.
For those unfamiliar with it, Bubsy is a classic platform-game franchise that became well known during the era of the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo. After being left aside by its publisher for many years, the character returned in 2017 with Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back, which shows with this new release that he is back to stay.
