After ateaser posted earlier this month, Yacht Club Games released a trailer revealing Cyber Shadow, its new 2D platform game developed by Mechanical Head.
On Twitter, Yacht Club stated:
We are very proud to announce Cyber Shadow, our newest project. Developed over the course of the last decade by Aarne Hunziker, and polished for more than a year under our supervision. We are shaping it to be the definitive Ninja Action game!
The game appears to follow the same model as Shovel Knight, with a nostalgic look inspired by NES games. However, the differences in style and environments give the game a unique aesthetic resembling classics such as Ninja Gaiden.
The plot—which can be seen on the game's Steam page—is set in the ruins of Mekacity and revolves around Shadow, who, after receiving a distress call, sets out on a journey to save his clan and discover what caused the world to be taken over by synthetic life forms. The story will be told both through cutscenes and within the game world itself.
In addition, the Steam page also mentions:
- Detailed 8-bit aesthetics with modern touches and perfect controls;
- More than a dozen apocalyptic bosses;
- Control over the game's difficulty;
- Abilities unlocked by rescuing members of your clan;
- Items and upgrades scattered throughout the maps;
- Soundtrack by Enrique Martin and produced by Jake Kaufman.

The gameplay looks frantic and action-packed
Yacht Club's strong track record and its enthusiasm for the game give fans confidence that this will be another success.
Cyber Shadow will launch for Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and does not have a set release date.
