Fire Emblem: Three Houses launched recently and has been well received by critics, with a score of 87 on the Metacritic website.

Now, fans of the series have another piece of good news, as Nintendo announced on its social media that the game will receive a harder mode in a free update.

The game already has several difficulty options, including the classic mode in which characters defeated in battle can no longer be played throughout the story, and an "easy" mode introduced in more recent games in the franchise, where this "permanent death" does not occur and players can sacrifice characters in battle without consequences.

The change should appeal to the more "hardcore" niche of the franchise's fans, who, for example, played "Lunatic+" mode in Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Lunatic+

Lunatic+ mode tested the patience, strategy, and luck of anyone who dared to play it.

Since Fire Emblem fans are divided into several niches, from the more casual (more interested in the story and characters) to the more strategic (more interested in difficulty and tactics), Nintendo is showing that it wants to please everyone in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, given that some of the franchise's latest titles were criticized for being too casual.

The update will arrive this year and should encourage players to experience the title in a different way.
