The long-awaited G-Switch 3, continuing the series that began in 2010, is now available in browsers through Poki. As an endless runner, it sets itself apart from others in the genre by playing with the laws of gravity and combining simplicity with fun that hits new and experienced players alike “with force.”
Speaking of simplicity, with just one button, which can be the space bar or directional controls, you make the character jump, turning the ceiling into the floor and vice versa. This is the premise for overcoming several types of obstacles and being as careful as possible not to die by falling into a chasm or into the sky. If you die repeatedly between checkpoints, a notice will ask whether you want to watch an advertisement to activate slow motion, making things easier.
The farther you advance, the faster the character becomes and the more obstacles appear in the way, increasing the adrenaline and the challenge. In addition, depending on the checkpoint you pass, the character is duplicated, requiring strategic thinking because if one of them dies, you return to the checkpoint.
The main mode inG-Switch 3 uses a traditional level-based system in which you must run from point A to point B. At the end, there is a scene with dialogue that tells part of the game's story. There are three worlds, each with several levels, and 12 collectible orbs throughout them. Although the orbs are clearly visible during play, collecting them requires strategy and creates that sense of, “How do I get there?” Gathering them unlocks new characters.
There is an endless mode that more closely resembles traditional endless runners, where the goal is to travel as far as possible through the setting to accumulate the highest score. There is also a local competitive mode for up to four players, and each character has a highly distinctive design that gives the title personality.
The futuristic visuals and catchy music also stand out. Both are quite varied and fit the title's concept well. As a bonus, the options menu lets you choose from several languages and disable the sound effects and soundtrack.
G-Switch 3 is an endless runner that is very easy to understand but offers plenty of content, helping it stand out among other games in the genre. Good in every respect, this is another game that should be on your list!
