According to a rumor reported by Thurrott, Microsoft may soon release a version of the Xbox One without a drive for any disc format. The goal would be to reduce the device's final price for consumers and make the console more competitive in the eighth-generation market.

Apparently, this version would only be a hardware update to the Xbox One and would have no connection to the future console that Microsoft will release during the next generation.

Everything indicates that this budget version of the Xbox One would cost around US$200, approximately R$750, and would be released by the end of 2019, which would intensify rumors that the new generation of consoles would arrive in 2020.

According to the same source, this console would allow players to exchange their physical games for digital codes at specialized stores.

Unfortunately, none of this has been confirmed by Microsoft, but we believe that it may be possible, since Xbox One sales have not reached figures as significant as those of its direct competitor, the PlayStation 4, and studies show a steady increase in digital media sales.
