Minecraft, Minecraft, Minecraft. No matter what kind of games you play—or whether you play anything at all—sooner or later you will encounter this sensational block-building adventure.
Set in a world made entirely of cubes, Minecraft gives players the key to infinite constructions in an open world and adventures beyond. Every block can be broken and relocated, allowing fans around the world to build skyscrapers, pirate ships, computers, entire cities, or even their favorite character at a gigantic scale.
The world of Minecraft, however, can be intimidating for first-time players unfamiliar with the many secrets it holds. To help with your first adventures, here is a guide with five important tips and facts for beginners, with thanks to Geek Insider for information.
5. Never Dig Straight Up or Down
The shortest distance between two points will always be a straight line. In Minecraft, however, digging downward to find rare materials is extremely dangerous. You may break through the ceiling of an underground cave or into an abyss, or fall into a lava lake, resulting in your instant death. Conversely, if you are already underground and dig directly upward, you may release flowing water or lava that could drown or kill you.
It is a very common mistake among first-time explorers, but one that is easy to avoid. Simply dig at an angle that puts you at least one block ahead. This can take the form of a spiral staircase or, better for exploration, moving forward and downward. Many people want to see what lies below quickly or believe that digging in a straight line will help them find something valuable in the depths fast—and it may—but our advice is to follow the options we have provided for fewer frustrations.

4. Always Carry a Bucket of Water
It may seem strange to think about how a simple bucket of water can save your life, but in Minecraft, this bucket is an essential item for mining. A simple iron bucket can be made from three “iron ingots” in a small “V” shape in the tools, then used to collect and carry water from different places.
Using water can put out large-scale fires, extinguish lava flows, and even save you if you fall into a lava lake. In addition, a bucket of water can simply create a waterfall that can be used to take you down or up steep cliffs. A bucket of water can even push monsters into an abyss with its current. Do not leave home without one!
3. Fortify Your Base Against Monster Attacks
This may seem obvious, but a wandering creeper can easily destroy you, your home, and your precious belongings. Make sure your house is well lit inside and out to prevent monsters from approaching it. It is also better to have a series of small rooms connected by doors than a single large one, because if a monster gets inside, you can escape and prepare for battle.
Consider blocking off the surrounding area with walls and a ditch or moat outside to trap invading monsters.

2. Play with Friends to Do “More”
Some versions of the Minecraft games, such as those on Xbox 360 and PC, allow players to join forces and play Minecraft with others. What you can accomplish with just one or two extra pairs of hands is worthwhile. Whether you are raiding a monster stronghold, harvesting your crops, or building a gigantic landmark, you are likely to have more fun and finish the task faster when doing it with friends.
1. Do Not Go Out at Night. Ever
The world of Minecraft is a lovely place to be while the sun is shining. At night, however, the landscape becomes absolutely full of monsters. It takes only a small horde of skeletons to bring you down or a “gang” of spiders to tear you apart in seconds. Even if you have diamond armor or an enchanted sword, an explosive creeper can appear and suddenly destroy your structures, whatever they may be.
In addition, non-undead monsters that appear at night will still be around in the morning. The best thing to do is simply forget about wandering all night—sleeping, for example—and enjoy a monster-free day the following morning. No matter how you look at it, going out at night is always a bad idea.
