In a recent interview with Game Informer, From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked about the possibility of a remaster of the classic medieval fantasy game Demon's Souls still being made for this or the next generation. In short, Miyazaki said that he personally has no plans to be involved in this project, but he is not opposed to having a well-qualified studio work on it.
First, he made it clear that this decision is not his alone, since Sony Interactive Entertainment owns the Demon's Souls brand, and that he would never be against the development of a remaster as long as it was developed by qualified people.
In the words of the From Software president himself:
"If it is developed by a studio that truly loved the original work and puts its heart and soul into the project, then it would be something I would like". Miyazaki then states: "It's complicated to talk about this; thinking about a remaster gives me butterflies in my stomach (...) but I understand that there are many fans out there who really love Demon's Souls. In other words, this could happen as long as it is done by a good studio. Then, I would be happy with it". And he concludes: "This was the first fantasy and action game that I created and directed. I have fond memories of it, but I definitely cannot say whether this remaster will certainly happen".
Below is the trailer for the original version, originally released for PlayStation 3 in October 2009.
