During Sony's recent State of Play presentation, a new trailer was shown for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, the remake of the acclaimed PlayStation racing title. In addition to gameplay clips, it also shows new tracks and character skins.

Announced as content exclusive to the PS4 version, Crash, Coco, and Cortex appear in "retro" skins, as do their karts, giving them a polygonal appearance similar to the one they had in the series' classic games. A "Retro Track" is also mentioned.

Tracks from Crash Nitro Kart, a PS2, Xbox, and GameCube game produced by Vicarious Visions years after Naughty Dog stopped making games in the series, are also shown. At a subsequent conference, Activision confirmed that all 13 tracks from the game would appear in the remake, as would its battle-mode arenas.

These tracks appear to be handled in a manner similar to the Retro Tracks—not to be confused with the Retro Track announced in the trailer—that have been present in Mario Kart since Mario Kart: Super Circuit for Game Boy Advance and explored more fully from Mario Kart DS onward. This fact may indicate that Activision intends to go beyond the "Naughty Dog" era of Crash Bandicoot, representing—or even remaking—other games in the series in the future.

These additions to the game demonstrate how Activision intends to continue going beyond the original content in its remakes, as already seen in the N. Sane Trilogy DLC and the recent announcement that Nitrus Oxide, the villain of Crash Team Racing, will be playable in the remake, something that was possible only with cheats in the PS1 version. It is possible that even more content will be added to the game over time, including characters who did not appear in the original, such as Dr. Nitrus Brio and Koala Kong.

Finally, although it was not shown in the trailers, the The Enemy website announced that the game will include Brazilian Portuguese voice acting. Little information was provided, but this will be the first time the series features dubbing in our language.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on June 21, 2019.
