A new trailer for Pokémon Sword & Shield was revealed at 10 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday the 7th, showing new information about the game as previously announced by The Pokémon Company. It highlights the Galarian Forms and new characters featured in the titles.
Galarian Forms
Continuing the Alolan forms from Pokémon Sun & Moon, the Galar region will have its own versions of existing Pokémon, altered according to the local geography. One of them is Weezing's Galarian Form, which will have the Poison/Fairy types.
Its industrially inspired design uses the concept of absorbing pollution and converting it into clean air.
Other Pokémon receiving new forms are Zigzagoon and its evolution, Linoone. Not only that, but this form of Linoone will also receive an evolution called Obstagoon.
These additions to Linoone's evolutionary line break some of the patterns introduced in Pokémon Sun & Moon. This is the first time a Pokémon outside the first generation has received a regional variant, since Zigzagoon debuted in the third-generation Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire. It is also the first time a regional variant has received an exclusive evolution.
Morpeko
One new Pokémon shown in the trailer is Morpeko, an Electric- and Dark-type. It continuously generates electricity, which leaves it constantly hungry and can change its mood.
Its Hunger Switch ability lets it change form, and each form changes the type of its Aura Wheel move, alternating between Electric and Dark.
New Characters
The trailer reveals a new villainous team that will serve as an antagonist in the game's plot: Team Yell. It appears to be based on fanatical and violent sports supporters, especially hooligans. The choice seems natural, since hooligans emerged in the United Kingdom, which in turn inspired the Galar region.
Team Yell's members idolize Marnie, a new rival who has a strong influence over her fans.
Another rival announced is Bede, who also appears antagonistic toward the player. He directly contrasts with Hop, who begins his journey alongside the player and is very friendly toward them.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be released on November 15.
