Today at 1 p.m. Brasília time, Nintendo held its E3 2019 conference digitally, as usual, with a Nintendo Direct.

The 40-minute presentation began with Doug Bowser's first appearance—currently president of Nintendo of America—in a Direct. To few people's surprise, there was a joke about Doug's last name.

Bowser

Which one is the real one?

Highlights from the presentation, which can be watchedhere, include:

New Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters

Contrary to what many expected, not just one new fighter was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but two! ...Or one fighter and a duo, to be more specific.

To begin, we have the protagonist of Dragon Quest XI, named only “Hero” in the fighting game. He will fight with a sword, shield, and spells, which can also be invoked through their own menu during the game, similar to the JRPGs he comes from.

Because the fighter represents Dragon Quest, an immense franchise, other series protagonists will be character skins. They are all heroes, so the name “Hero” still applies to all of them!

The other new fighter is a highly desired character, especially in the West. Actually, “fighters” would be more accurate. It is the classic duo from the Nintendo 64 era, Banjo-Kazooie!

YouTube

The trailer introducing them parodies the one that introduced King K. Rool. It shows Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and K. Rool, who appeared in Donkey Kong 64, a “sibling” game to Banjo-Kazooie because it belongs to the same genre and was made by Rareware.

With these characters, three of the Fighters Pass's five downloadable fighters have been announced.

Luigi's Mansion 3

More gameplay from Luigi's Mansion 3 was shown, revealing the return of local cooperative multiplayer through Gooigi, as well as new functions for the brand-new Poltergust.

YouTube

Through charming cutscenes, more of the story was revealed, in which Luigi must rescue Mario and friends from a luxurious but haunted hotel.

It was also announced that the game will have ScareScraper mode, which supports multiplayer and consists of randomly generated maps with different objectives.

Panzer Dragoon Remake

Panzer Dragoon, a Sega Saturn game released in 1995, will receive a Nintendo Switch remake with improved graphics and gameplay.

More was shown of the Game Boy Color game's remake, with a trailer further exploring its unique art.

A new mechanic was also presented, allowing you to build your own dungeon using preselected rooms.

The game's release date was announced as September 20.

No More Heroes 3

More than 10 years after the release of No More Heroes 2, the series' third numbered game will come to Switch, continuing Travis Touchdown's story.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

The renowned The Witcher franchise comes to Switch with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition, which will be released in 2019.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The new Animal Crossing, now subtitled New Horizons, received a trailer showing its gameplay.

YouTube

The game, which also has a multiplayer mode, asks the player to populate a deserted island with Tom Nook's help while exploring it with tools made from the island's own materials.

A release date was also announced: March 20, 2020.

Daemon X Machina

The mecha game set in a post-apocalyptic world received a release date: September 13.

YouTube

It is worth remembering that the game had a demo made to collect player feedback, so the final product should improve on the quality of the earlier playable versions, which were already well received.

Astral Chain

Platinum's game received another frantictrailer, showing more of the story and gameplay in this action game where a police force fights an interdimensional invasion.

YouTube

The game will be released on August 30.

Breath of the Wild Sequel

At the end of the Direct, a teaser for a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was shown.

The cutscene, which appears to take place directly after the events of Breath of the Wild, shows Link and Zelda exploring dark ruins and awakening a mummified figure.

YouTube

The teaser ends with Hyrule Castle breaking free from the ground and floating, along with confirmation that the title is in development.

The fact that the game is a direct sequel rather than a standalone story with another Link, as well as the dark setting seen in the teaser, recalls a situation similar to what occurred with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

In addition to the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo used its Nintendo Treehouse broadcast to show gameplay and provide new information about titles such as Pokémon Sword & Shield, Super Mario Maker, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and more.
