The Caligula Effect is a turn-based RPG released for PlayStation Vita in June 2016 by FuRyu and developed by Aquria. In the Americas and Europe, Atlus published the game one year after its Japanese release.
FuRyu announced a remake of the game for PlayStation 4 titled The Caligula Effect: Overdose, with a Japanese release scheduled for May 17.
The company recently shared more news about the remake, including the game's first full trailer, confirming that new musician Stork will be voiced by Shugo Nakamura and Kuchinashi by Himika Akaneya.
Using Unreal Engine 4, the game will feature updated direction, visuals, and processing; a "Forbidden Musician Route" twice the size of the main storyline; an option for a female protagonist; multiple endings; new members of the "Go-Home Club" and new musicians; and new music tracks.
Watch the trailer below:
The game's theme song is called "Cradle," performed by RePLiCA, featuring actress Eriko Nakamura, Emi Nitta (voice of Sweet-P), Yuka Otsubo (voice of Thorn), and Himika Akaneya (voice of Kuchinashi). Shota Horie wrote the lyrics and composed the song. Listen to a short version of the theme below.
