After several months of speculation, a new version of Nintendo's console aimed at players who want a more portable device was confirmed today, Wednesday the 10th. In an announcement on YouTube, Yoshiaki Koizumi, the general producer of Nintendo Switch, announced Nintendo Switch Lite, whose main intention is to provide a more dynamic and accessible experience for those who like to play video games away from home.
Because it is a portable version, this new version of the device will have some elements removed compared with its main version. The most significant are that it will no longer be able to connect to a television to display gameplay, the Joy Cons are no longer detachable, and some games such as 1-2 Switch will require separate Joy Cons. The motion sensors of these Joy Cons will also not be present, since they will be attached to the device.
Although some games that require motion sensors will be more difficult to play, other games such as Super Mario Odyssey, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and several others will be playable without any problems.
The Switch Lite will have a 5.5-inch screen and a 720p resolution, with 32 GB of storage and a more efficient processor that is said to offer up to 30% more playtime. The device will not have a Bluetooth connection, however, but it will have a traditional headphone jack.
Coming in three different colors, the console will be priced at US$200, a reduction of 100 dollars from the price of the original version. It is not known what the device's possible price will be in Brazil. It will be released in September.
