According to information released by Media Create, a Japanese company specializing in the Eastern digital entertainment market, the Switch surpassed PlayStation 4 sales in Japan before Nintendo's console celebrated its second anniversary. However, there is a detail in these figures: the numbers correspond to the original and Slim versions of the PS4, with Pro units not included.

Despite this, the numbers remain impressive, since Sony's video game console has been on the market for five years. Currently in Japan, Nintendo's console has sold 6.67 million units compared with 6.54 million for the PS4. If units of the Pro version were counted, the number would rise to 7.54 million PlayStation 4 consoles sold.

In game sales, the Switch is also standing out in the Land of the Rising Sun during this Christmas season. The three best-selling games in this period were Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokémon Let's Go and Super Mario Party, respectively.

Another relevant piece of news is that the Switch broke the record for sales in the shortest time within this generation in the US market. According to Eurogamer, in the console's first 20 months, 8.7 million units of Nintendo's current main platform were purchased in the United States, with more than 1.3 million units of the console sold in this past month of November alone.
