SEGA Amusements has greatly pleased longtime SEGA fans since it announced Daytona 3 Championship USA this year. It seems that they will continue to revive the company's old franchises, or at least that is how it appears. In a recent interview with the Arcade Heroes website, Paul Williams, chief operating officer at SEGA Amusements, said the following about a possible OutRun 3:

“OutRun 3 is not in the plans at the moment. It is something that is on our radar, but I cannot say more than that.”

It is interesting that he went as far as to talk about the possibility of an OutRun 3, considering how strange SEGA's public relations used to be in the past. From what he says, it seems that SEGA Amusements has a short list of franchises it would like to bring back. It is no surprise that Daytona 3 Championship USA is one of the first titles, considering how popular the original game was.

Williams also confirmed that he had previously collaborated with Yu Suzuki, creator of the original OutRun, saying:

“Yes, I worked with Yu Suzuki on OutRun 2, After Burner, Brave Firefighter and Virtua Fighter. He is a creative genius and an innovator who moved the video game industry forward. He is a true visionary.”

The comment comes after the highly anticipated Daytona 3 Championship USA, in whose creation Williams was heavily involved.
