Persona 5 Royal will be released in Japan later this month. With its launch imminent, the game’s opening was revealed; in Japan, it is known as Persona 5: The Royal. As expected, some scenes shown in one of the game’s trailers were part of the opening, which can be seen below.

Unlike the first version of the RPG, whose opening used "Wake up, Get up, Get out there", the opening of Persona 5 Royal features "Colors Flying High". Both songs are performed by Lyn, who is already a familiar presence in the franchise’s games.

Following the pattern also seen in Persona 4 Golden, the opening of the game’s "definitive version" has a more cheerful atmosphere that highlights some of the new features in the title. This is especially noticeable in the color palette, which is (deliberately) more varied and vibrant, contrasting with the strong presence of red in the original version.

Another difference is the prominence given to the characters in the animation. Haru and Makoto, who had a very brief appearance with little emphasis in the opening of the 2017 game, now receive the same attention as the other cast members. Akechi, who did not appear at all, is now also present. Kasumi, a new character introduced in this game, also makes an appearance.
