SEGA announced that SEGA AGES: Phantasy Star will launch on Switch in Japan on October 31 for 925 yen.
This version of the RPG, which was originally scheduled for release in September, will include several new elements. They include:
- The original Phantasy Star comes to Switch: A faithful port of the original Phantasy Star version for SEGA Mark III / Master System. It includes new easier game modes, such as a Hiragana text option from the Sega Saturn version and a lower-difficulty option.
- Monster Codex: The game includes a Monster Codex where you can check each monster's name, graphics, and all kinds of parameters.
- Spell, Item, Weapon, and Armor Lists: View every spell and item in the world of Phantasy Star through convenient lists. They include each weapon's and armor's name, attack power, defense power, special effects, and price, as well as which characters can equip them and much more. You can view these lists at any time through the pause menu.
- Auto-Mapping Feature: Although the game is played with 3D maps, a 2D auto-mapping feature has also been added to the screen. This reduces the difficulty of Phantasy Star's labyrinths, where it is easy to get lost (auto-mapping can be turned off).
- International Version with FM Sound and Music Player: It implements the international version of Phantasy Star with support for the Japanese version's FM soundtrack. There is also a music player where you can enjoy the soundtrack's 19 tracks in FM and PSG versions.
