Nintendo's future on mobile phones was reaffirmed this time with its first direct participation in them (and not that of a third-party company), in a Pokémon augmented reality game.

Planned for 2016, in "Pokémon GO" for Android and iOS, the promise is that the real world will be transformed by involving the presence and elements of Pokémon through smartphones. It will also bring special screens for battles, captures and trades of the pocket monsters.

The title is being developed in partnership among The Pokémon Company, Nintendo and Niantic - the studio behind "Ingress," an augmented reality game for mobile phones. The companies presented the project with the conceptual trailer above at a conference. In the final moments of the video, excitement runs high as dozens of people join forces to take part in an event to capture Mewtwo, a rare Pokémon.

Shaped like a Poké Ball, a Bluetooth wristband called Pokémon GO Plus can be used together with the game. The device should vibrate when the user receives notifications from the game, in addition to allowing actions within it to be performed by pressing the buttons on the wristband.

Whether it is brilliant, a childhood dream come true or both... We are looking forward to 2016. No month or day has been confirmed so far.
