The latest issue of Famitsu magazine revealed a new 2D fighting game called Blade Arcus Rebellion from Shining for PlayStation 4 and Switch, scheduled for release in Japan on March 14, 2019.
Like the first title, Blade Arcus from Shining EX, it is a fighting game featuring characters from SEGA's more recent Shining games. The game was released in 2015 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 and was never localized for the West, but developer Studio Saizensen localized it for PC on Steam in 2016. The PC version does not contain the console versions' art gallery, but it includes an online mode that was strangely left out of the original PS3 and PS4 versions.
The new title in the series will add new characters, especially from Shining Resonance Refrain, released this year, such as Yuma, Kirika, Sonia, Rinna, Zest, and Excella, for a total of 20 playable characters. A new feature will be character skills, a growth element in which new abilities are unlocked with points earned in battle, as well as the inclusion of an online mode that, as mentioned, did not exist in the original version.
The game will cost 5,990 yen in the standard edition and 9,490 yen in a limited edition that includes a visual book, drama CD, theme music CD, a costume DLC for Kirika, and an A3-size poster. At this point, we still do not know whether the game will be released in the West, but stay tuned for more news soon.
