Shantae is a platform game series that began in 2002 and has been gaining popularity and several critically acclaimed games ever since, selling more than 390,000 units around the world.
Its games follow Shantae on her adventures to defend Sequin Land from pirates and fantastical beings. Its most recent game was 2016's Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Beyond the surprise of the announcement, the fact that the game will also be released for Apple Arcade caught many people off guard.
