Square Enix announced through its Twitter account that DJ and music producer Skrillex would be directly involved in the Kingdom Hearts 3 soundtrack, initially confirming a collaboration to create a remix of Japanese singer Utada Hikaru's song Don´t Think Twice. However, possibly because new ideas emerged from this partnership between the artists, a new opening song was born, titled Face My Fears, which will have English and Japanese versions, as is customary for the franchise's songs.

Utada Hikaru has lent her voice and talent to the songs of Kingdom Hearts since the first game, in both English and Japanese. These songs are Simple and Clean and its Japanese counterpart, Hikari, in Kingdom Hearts, and Sanctuary and Passion in Kingdom Hearts 2. In the spin-offs, the songs are repeated, alternating between remixed, instrumental, orchestral, and original versions.

Lovers of Don't Think Twice do not need to worry, as it remains on the game's soundtrack.

This is not the first time Skrillex has worked with games. He was also involved with the theme song for Syndicate and made guest appearances in radio songs for the simulation game The Sims 4, both from producer EA Games.

The new Kingdom Hearts is scheduled to launch on January 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it will conclude the Xehanort saga that began in the first game and possibly end the "Sora arc," as many fans have speculated.
