SEGA recently announced that SEGA AGES: Space Harrier will launch for Nintendo Switch in Japan on June 27, 2019. The title will arrive through Nintendo eShop for 925 yen. We still do not know the game's Western release date, but considering that the other SEGA AGES games usually come to the West, we should soon have confirmation of a Western release date.
Below we will see all the features of this new version, which, according to SEGA, will be even better than the one currently available for Nintendo 3DS.
SEGA AGES: Space Harrier retains the appeal of the arcade version while including additional features from the 3DS version, such as widescreen support, the addition of the exclusive final boss Haya-Oh, and much more. There is also a wallpaper and a tube screen that imitates the atmosphere of an arcade cabinet. In addition, the new "Komainu Barrier Attack" game mode has been added.
New mode: Komainu Barrier Attack:
A new mode in which Komainu, who normally protects the Stage 17 boss, Wi Wi Jumbo, for some reason now helps Harrier throughout the game. Komainu creates a barrier around Harrier to protect him. Except for bullets, the barrier protects Harrier from all enemies and obstacles. You can now destroy invincible obstacles and enemies such as Binzubins by colliding with them, which should normally be avoided except when riding the Uriah dragon. However, if Komainu itself is attacked, the barrier will disappear for a fixed period of time.
The Arcade Atmosphere Returns with Joystick Controls:
The game features a “Joystick Mode” in which you can hold the Joy-Con vertically to reproduce controls based on the arcade version, providing a taste of the arcade atmosphere.
