A new trailer with gameplay scenes from Streets of Rage 4 was recently released. Unfortunately, the platforms on which the game will launch and its release date have not yet been announced.

According to DotEmu, the company responsible for the game:

The clip begins with our dear friends Axel and Blaze reunited and handing out punches—with new moves—to a fresh group of ill-intentioned criminals at full force. The vibrant look of Streets of Rage 4, courtesy of the team behind 2017’s incredible Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, brings the game’s troubled city to life with a fluid and exaggerated style. The hand-drawn animation in the game adds an explosion of talent to every blow, covering the bold aesthetic refined by the original trilogy.

Streets of Rage 4 is the first title in the main series in more than two decades and will revitalize the iconic ‘baddie-bashing’ gameplay with modern touches, new moves, and more surprises yet to be revealed. The team behind Streets of Rage 4 is drawing inspiration from brawler games for new fans and to remind veterans why Streets of Rage is one of SEGA’s most beloved series.

For those unfamiliar with it, Streets of Rage is a beat ’em up franchise from SEGA that was very successful in the 1990s because of its technical quality. Initially created as a “response” to Capcom’s Final Fight series, it even ended up overshadowing its competitor. After many years of waiting, with no new game in the series since Streets of Rage 3 was released for the Mega Drive in 1994, fans will finally be able to clear the streets of criminal syndicates once again.
