Tectoy announced on its Facebook page that it was rereleasing the fondly remembered Master System at fans' request in limited quantities. The console is being sold on the company's website for the modest sum of R$170 and includes 131 built-in games, with several classics such as Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Black Belt, Columns, Fantasy Zone, Golden Axe, Hang-On, Keiseiden, Shinobi and Sonic the Hedgehog.
However, the company was heavily criticized for the decision by many fans. They said that this was not the Master System they had asked for and that what they really wanted was the console in its original design and with a cartridge slot again, rather than a console running an emulator with several built-in games, some of them rather questionable.
We do not know whether that would be commercially viable for the company. Its standard response to this kind of suggestion is always that it will forward it to the appropriate department. If you want to give it as a gift to your young cousin, it is a great choice, but longtime fans of the console were certainly disappointed by the announcement.
