Bandai Namco recently announced that its classic fighting franchise Tekken had surpassed the incredible mark of 4 million units sold worldwide. What is most interesting is that, in October 2018, the developers had announced the achievement of reaching 3 million copies on the market. In other words, the title remains quite appealing to consumers even two years after its release.

Tekken 7 was released worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in June 2017. That year, it competed at The Game Awards in the "Best Fighting Game" category, an award it lost to Injustice 2.

Thank-you artwork released by Bandai Namco for the more than 4 million units of Tekken 7 sold.

For those unfamiliar with it, Tekken is one of the world's most recognized franchises in the fighting genre. It has been successful since its first version in the mid-1990s, when its mission was to rival SEGA's Virtua Fighter for the position of best 3D/polygonal fighting game. Seeing these significant numbers shows that consumers are still willing to buy games from this genre, which companies have somewhat neglected today. Perhaps seeing this information will give SEGA the courage to bring back Virtua Fighter; the fans would be grateful.
