The DLC, which is already available, costs 10 dollars and adds two new modes to the game, both focused on offline and single-player content. These modes are:

  • CPU Battle: a mode that simulates an online match of Tetris 99, but instead of facing 98 opponents from around the world, the player faces 98 CPUs.

Tetris 99

  • Marathon: a mode in which the player seeks the highest score by playing a regular game of Tetris without any opponents, as games in the franchise usually are.

Interestingly, these new modes had already been revealed by a recent datamine.

The DLC is optional, and Tetris 99 remains available for free to anyone with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. There is no doubt that these modes were implemented to train players to improve their performance in online matches, so the DLC is recommended for anyone interested in improving their rankings and earning more victories.

Nintendo also announced in a post on its Twitter account that more content will be added to the game in the future.
