SEGA Europe recently announced that it had acquired Two Point studio, a developer known for the game Two Point Hospital. According to reports, this was only the first investment from the project known as Seachlight, whose goal is to invest in the search for new talent capable of developing new intellectual properties for the company.
Two Point commented on the changes and the fact that it now belongs to SEGA through its co-founder, Mark Webley:
"It is a milestone for Two Point Studios, and we are thrilled to join the SEGA family. (...) We look forward to carrying out the next phase of our plans as we continue to evolve with Two Point. It is an extremely exciting time to be part of Two Point, and we are here today thanks to the hard work, passion and dedication of our small but incredibly talented team, and to the amazing fans who have supported us throughout and guided us in developing the continuation of Two Point Hospital."
On the same occasion, SEGA Europe president Gary Dale offered the following words:
“We are delighted to officially welcome Two Point studio into the SEGA family. As a relatively new developer based in Great Britain but with global success, we knew we had to move quickly on this deal because they were an extremely attractive investment prospect with a great deal of talent. The Searchlight team at SEGA Europe has done a fantastic job integrating the studio over the past two years, and it went on to produce a fantastic title with clear franchise potential.”
