It took almost 25 years, but Mega Drive game Ultracore, produced by DICE, will finally be released for SEGA's fourth-generation console.
In 2018, Strictly Limited Games announced that the title would be released for current-generation consoles. Nostalgic Mega Drive fans insisted on a physical version for the classic console, and fortunately they were heard.
For those unfamiliar with the story: a game called Hardcore was scheduled for Mega Drive in 1994, as well as Amiga and SEGA CD, but it was canceled when it was almost complete. More recently, retro-release specialist Strictly Limited Games announced that the title would be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Some time later, the company said that not only would the game be renamed Ultracore, it would also come to its original console.
The cartridge print run will be extremely limited: 999 units for SEGA Genesis and 999 for Mega Drive. The price will be 44.99 euros, approximately 196 reais. We recommend the Genesis version for Brazilians because, although there is no region lock, the European version runs at 50 Hz, which will make the game slower on American and Brazilian consoles.
If you are interested in pre-ordering, here is the link for the Genesis version and here for the European version. The game will go on sale at 1 p.m. Brasília time this Sunday, June 23. Stay alert to secure your copy!
Below is a trailer for this game that will finally let everyone enjoy this new retro experience.
