According to a recent report from Famitsu magazine, Virtua Racing will arrive this spring (Brazilian autumn) for Switch through the Nintendo eShop in Japan as part of the SEGA AGES collection. The new version’s highlight will be support for online matches (1v1) and local split-screen races for up to eight players.
For those unfamiliar with it, Virtua Racing was first released in arcades in 1992, where it caught the public’s attention with its polygonal graphics and multiple camera angles, which were highly revolutionary at the time. Following this success, versions for SEGA’s home consoles of the period were released: Mega Drive and 32X in 1994, and Sega Saturn in 1995.
The game modes will be: a) Normal Race, with four or five laps; b) Grand Prix Race, a 20-lap race in which the cars’ tires wear down and must be replaced to avoid handling problems; c) Multiplayer Online, for up to two players; and d) Multiplayer Offline, in which up to eight people can play simultaneously on a single Switch, with the option to set between five and 20 laps.
Offline multiplayer for up to eight people.
New features in the SEGA AGES version of Virtua Racing include the ability to save match progress and watch replays from different camera angles.
