Publisher PQube and developer Wonderboy Bobi have finally announced the release date for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Aggelos. The big day will be July 12, 2019.
For those unfamiliar with it, Aggelos is a 2D game heavily inspired by the Wonder Boy franchise. It was originally released for PC in June 2018 and later received a Switch version in April 2019. When the Nintendo console version launched, publisher PQube planned to bring the title to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at the same time. For unknown reasons, however, those versions were delayed.

Below is PQube's description of Aggelos:
Travel through time and discover a captivating new action RPG that looks as though it was taken from the 16-bit era. Inspired by nonlinear Japanese adventures such as Wonder Boy in Monster World, Aggelos hurls players into the middle of a colossal struggle for survival as beings from another dimension threaten to invade the peaceful Kingdom of Lumen. Packed with secrets and side quests, and boasting a combat style that would be the envy of any 2D action game, Aggelos is the perfect combination of retro style and modern game design.
Main features:
– A vast kingdom to explore – Venture through forests, seas, cave systems, and ancient temples as you seek the magical elements needed to save the world from total annihilation;
– A classic nonlinear adventure – Explore an expanding world that gradually reveals itself in Metroidvania style as you gain new abilities and equipment;
– Deadly encounters – Stop imposing bosses and their deceitful minions as you tackle dangerous main quests and optional odd jobs for the people of Lumen;
– Tactical depth – Unlock magical abilities and high-level attacks, skillfully chaining these immense powers to clear screens of enemies in seconds;
– Stunning sprite art – Forget out-of-place modern art: Aggelos features superb character designs and animations while remaining proudly and faithfully 16-bit.
– Memorable chiptunes – Lose yourself in a retro-inspired soundtrack that floods the Kingdom of Lumen with life.
