Starting November 14, 2018, Xbox One players can play Fortnite using a keyboard and mouse, as it will be one of the first games to be compatible with the accessories after the update. One of the major new features is that this update will also bring the free game Warframe. Among the games receiving compatibility with the accessories in November are: Bomber Crew, Deep Rock Galactic, Strange Brigade, Vermintide 2, War Thunder, and X-Morph Defense. Other games such as Children of Morta, Day Z, Minion Master, Moonlighter, Vigor, Warface, and Wargroove are also on the compatibility list, but so far have no defined date. According to Microsoft, accessory developers will have support to, in its words, "create personalized mouse and keyboard experiences for games as they see fit, to ensure a fair and fun experience for fans".

It is worth noting that this is a long-standing request from console players who play strategy games and FPS titles (first-person shooters), since they traditionally believe that using a keyboard and mouse offers greater precision. Previously, games such as Civilization and Halo Wars were adapted to be played with the traditional controller. Both will probably also be updated. This is another step by Microsoft toward bringing consoles closer to the PC.

Microsoft also confirmed that the Razor brand is expected to make official and customized peripherals for Xbox One.
