SEGA recently announced remasters of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 for PlayStation 4. Together with Yakuza 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, and Yakuza 6, this will give the main series a complete presence on a single console.

Although SEGA has not yet announced a Western release date for the remastered version of Yakuza 3, the game has already launched in Japan and performed very well, ranking first in game sales during its release week. In only three days, the game sold 26,047 units. For comparison, Capcom's Okami HD received its PS4 remaster on the same day and ranked 11th, selling 14,089 units.

Toshihiro Nagoshi, creator of the Yakuza series, recently said that the reason these remastered versions exist is mainly the demand from Western fans who discovered the series on PS4 and would like to experience the earlier titles but no longer have a PS3. This is because the series became more popular in the West after the release of Yakuza 0 in 2017.
