SEGA announced Yakuza Kiwami 2 for PlayStation 4. The game will be released in Japan on December 7 for 7,590 yen for the standard edition and 11,590 yen for the limited edition.

The game, a remake of Yakuza 2, is made with the "Dragon Engine" used in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. It will feature an additional scenario called "The Truth of Goro Majima," in which Majima will be playable; a large number of previously untold stories; and an entirely new voice recording, including Hakuryu as Ryo Takashima, Susumu Terajima as Jiro Kawara, Houka Kinoshita as Wataru Kurahashi, and Yuichi Kimura as Tsutomu Bessho. Japanese alternative-metal band SiM will handle the game's theme song.

The limited edition will include:
- The game Yakuza Kiwami 2
- A three-CD "Kiwami" set
- Disc A: Kazuma Kiryu Famous CD
- Disc B: Goro Majima Famous CD
- Disc C: Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 soundtrack CD
- Special set of 10 business cards featuring characters who appear in the game
- Various DLC
- Exclusive costumes
- Exclusive weapons
- Exclusive additional characters for activity locations
- One million yen to spend in the game
- PlayStation 4 theme and avatars
- Limited-edition packaging

A special "Yakuza Kiwami 2 Edition" PlayStation 4 model will be available at launch through Sony Store Japan in "Jet Black" and "Glacier White." Priced at 33,480 yen for 500GB or 38,480 yen for 1TB, it includes a PlayStation 4, a Yakuza Kiwami 2-themed cover, an original theme based on Yakuza Kiwami 2, and packaging with an original Yakuza Kiwami 2 design.
