SEGA will release Yakuza Kiwami 2 both physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 in the Americas and Europe on August 28 for US$49.99, the company announced. Preorders and first-print copies will ship in a steelbook featuring Kazuma Kiryu and Ryuji Goda.
The remake of Yakuza 2 was released in Japan in December 2017. It uses the same engine as Yakuza 6. Here is an overview of the game provided by SEGA:
About
A full year has passed since Kazuma Kiryu left the yakuza world behind during the events of Yakuza Kiwami. Fate, however, has other things in store for the legendary Dragon of Dojima, and Kiryu finds himself on the front line of a potential all-out war. SEGA proudly presents Yakuza Kiwami 2, one of the most beloved narratives in franchise history, remade in full HD for PlayStation 4.
From the global development studio that introduced Kazuma Kiryu to the world, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio returns in top form with Yakuza Kiwami 2. The game will be released both physically and digitally on PlayStation 4 on August 28, 2018, for US$49.99. That is not all, however—preorders and first-print copies of Yakuza Kiwami 2 will come in an elaborate steelbook featuring Kiryu and his fierce rival, the Dragon of Kansai, Ryuji Goda.

Key Features
- Dragons Belong on the Dragon Engine—Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a recreation of the original Yakuza 2, completely rebuilt in the Dragon Engine, the same engine used to develop Yakuza 6. Experience fantastic graphics with seamless transitions into battles and when entering or leaving buildings. All cutscenes and voiced lines were rerecorded to remain as faithful to the original as possible while reaping the benefits of the most powerful engine the Yakuza series has ever seen.
- Big Hits, Minigames—Kiryu has not let his time away from the front lines interfere with his combat or leisure skills. Enjoy a wide variety of brutal (and hilarious) Heat Actions and take on new minigames such as Golf Bingo, the original arcade release of Virtual-On, the return of the famous Cabaret from Yakuza 0 (including the return of fan favorite Yuki!), Majima's revamped Clan Creator, and even SEGA's infamous toilets!
- Uncover the Truth About Goro Majima—This time, Kiryu is not the only one running the show. Fans of the Mad Dog of Shimano will not want to miss this new Majima-centered campaign, which features him as a playable character, complete with his trusty dagger, and sheds light on his personal journey from the end of Yakuza Kiwami to Yakuza Kiwami 2.
- Extreme Localization—We went through the Yakuza Kiwami 2 script with a fine-tooth comb; every effort was made to ensure it is the most faithful representation of the original Japanese. SEGA is committed to supporting the best possible Yakuza experience for the series' dedicated fans around the world.
