An official SEGA survey for the release of Yakuza Kiwami 2, which took place last Tuesday (08/28), suggested that the company was considering localizing and remastering the series' spin-offs, Yakuza Ishin and Yakuza Kenzan.

In Japan, the remaster of Yakuza 3 for PlayStation 4 was recently released, with Yakuza 4 planned for 2018 and Yakuza 5 for early 2019. As for the spin-offs, Yakuza Ishin takes place during the Bakumatsu era and was released in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in February 2014, while Yakuza Kenzan takes place during the Edo period and was released for PlayStation 3 in 2008. Neither had ever been released in English before.

Below are some questions that appear in the survey (in English):

  • How interested are you in buying remakes/remasters of existing games in the Yakuza series?
  • How interested are you in buying new games set in the world of Yakuza?
  • How interested are you in buying games created by the Yakuza team in other worlds, such as the upcoming Fist of the North Star?
  • How interested are you in buying the various spin-off games that never received a Western release?
