SEGA had not released new information about Yakuza Kiwami since it announced its western release. Now we finally know when the game will be released and how much it will cost. For a limited time, you can pre-order a Steelbook Edition of the game for the surprisingly low price of US$29.99. The game will be released for PlayStation 4 on August 29, 2017, in the Americas and Europe, and is already available for pre-order on Amazon.
For those who do not know, Yakuza Kiwami is a complete remake of the first Yakuza, originally released in Japan in 2005 and in the West in 2006 for PlayStation 2. The remake was made from scratch and includes the base game as well as updates such as new 1080p, 60fps graphics, a reworked script (the text translation was also completely redone from scratch), dialogue re-recorded by the voice actors, 30 minutes of additional scenes, new optional missions, and a new mode called "Majima Everywhere". If you have not played Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami is also a great starting point for anyone discovering the series now.
SEGA also updated the game's official website and the franchise website with the new Yakuza Experience. The site contains an interactive timeline with a character map and the first issue of "The Dragon's Path", which will be part of a series of 10 comics based on the franchise. It is impressive!
