Toshihiro Nagoshi, head of the studio responsible for the Yakuza series, hinted at the announcement of a new title within the next month during the latest SEGA-Nama broadcast.

When colleague Ayana Tsubaki asked whether there would be a pause in the news after the recent announcement of Yakuza Online, he answered: “The broadcast after the Tokyo Game Show will be big... We will discuss things that no one expects.”

Tsubaki noted that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, responsible for the Yakuza series, is usually either at the PlayStation press conference before the Tokyo Game Show or holds its own presentation every year, and that she expected something to be announced the following month. Nagoshi replied: “I understand that. The only hint I can give is that it will be something really different.”

Tsubaki asked whether everyone would know what it was about within the next month, and Nagoshi answered: “That’s right. It is the announcement of a new title that will turn things upside down.”

Nagoshi also mentioned that it had been about three years since the project’s planning phase and once again confirmed that we would hear about it between then and the next SEGA-Nama broadcast at the end of September.

Tokyo Game Show 2018 will take place from September 20 to 23, so the new game could be announced there, or even earlier during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2018 pre-show broadcast on September 10.
