SEGA announced that Alex Kidd in Miracle World will launch on the Switch eShop in Japan on February 21 as part of the SEGA AGES series. The series' games will eventually be released in the West, as SEGA previously announced, but the exact date for Alex Kidd has not yet been revealed.
Below are the features of the new version, according to its official website:
AGES Mode: Adding Several New Elements
In addition to "Original Mode," where the original version of the game can be played unchanged, the SEGA AGES release includes a new "AGES Mode." It offers the same fun as the original mode while adding support for music with the FM Sound Unit, allowing players to enjoy numerous tracks with nostalgic frequency modulations.
In addition, the "Continue" feature after getting a "Game Over" has been simplified, and there will also be a help feature to rewind the game by five seconds, making the game more accessible to players who may not be good at action games.
With new images drawn for events at the beginning of important stages, and the addition of the Sukopako Motorcycle music and a "ghost background song" recorded for the soundtrack but not used in the game, AGES Mode aims to be the original game in its complete form. [editor's note: the motorcycle music does not play in the original Japanese version of the game, which is why the website mentions it as a new feature for Japanese players, although we already know it]
