The contest to represent Brazil at the 2026 Oscars has officially begun. This Thursday (14), the Brazilian Academy of Cinema announced the films submitted to compete in the Best International Feature Film category, won this year by the drama Ainda Estou Aqui.
The national selection is one of the most anticipated moments in Brazilian cinema, especially after Walter Salles's historic victory. The submitted films include O Agente Secreto, a political thriller receiving international attention; Homem com H, which questions masculinity in Brazil; and O Último Azul, a poetic drama honored at European festivals.
The selection process will have two stages: the six-title shortlist will be announced on September 8, and the final choice of Brazil's representative will take place on September 15. The winner will officially compete at the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category.
