Everyone expected it to be an animated series of The Legend of Zelda, but the day of the announcement arrived and we learned that it was actually Devil May Cry.

Recently, Adi Shankar, executive producer of Netflix's animated Castlevania series, publicly confirmed that an adaptation of Capcom's popular hack-and-slash franchise Devil May Cry is in production.

We still do not know details about the series' plot, such as when it will take place in the franchise or whether it will faithfully follow the original games' story. However, based on his work on Castlevania, we can already expect good results.

According to Shankar, the producer said that he acquired the rights to Devil May Cry so Hollywood losers would not ruin yet another game series.” On the same occasion, he also said that this project will be part of a multiverse joining this franchise with another, and that it is possible only because of fan support and the success achieved by the current Castlevania series.

Joining Castlevania and Devil May Cry?

It is believed that the Devil May Cry series could be combined with Castlevania, although many consider this unlikely because they belong to different universes and originated with different companies, Capcom and Konami, respectively.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Shankar also said he was interested in producing an animated series based on Kentarou Miura's Berserk manga. He said he would like the project to retain the original work's hand-drawn look because he believes the original artist's work is a true masterpiece.

The Devil May Cry animated series still has no release date on Netflix.
