Publisher FDG Entertainment and developer Game Atelier announced that Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, whose release date was originally planned for November 6, has been delayed to December 4.
The delay is due to "unforeseen difficulties" in producing the physical version, which forced the publisher to reschedule the date. The physical edition will be released for PlayStation 4 and Switch.
"It turned out that manufacturing the physical items takes longer than we initially planned, and we could only choose between rushing things or properly completing the Day-One Edition and keeping our promises about its contents," FDG Entertainment said.
“There is no doubt: we are now approaching a five-year production cycle for Monster Boy, and it made no sense for us to have an incomplete physical release, so we decided to give the manufacturing process more time so that the physical edition can shine like the game itself. So much polish, so much work—we don't want to see a poorly made physical release."
FDG Entertainment clarified that "the releases of the digital and physical versions are closely tied to each other, so this means that the game will be released on December 4 in both physical and digital form."
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch. A PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2019.
