Big Brother Brasil dominated the country's Google searches—the same happened the previous year and the year before that. A record four soap operas also appear on this list: Verdades Secretas, Os Dez Mandamentos, Além do Tempo, and Império. As for deaths, the list of most-searched topics includes someone who died in a tragedy every year. In 2013, it was MC Daleste; in 2014, Eduardo Campos; and this year, Cristiano Araújo.

Enem and Sisu remain on the list as in previous years, and Rock in Rio—which takes place every two years—also joined it.

Compare that with Google's global ranking:

Globally, the picture changes considerably, with a greater focus on athletes who received worldwide media attention, as well as games (Fallout 4 and Agar.io) and films (Jurassic World, Furious 7, and American Sniper). American basketball player Lamar Odom, who was found unconscious in October and remains hospitalized, leads the list. Paris also appears because of its tragedies.

It is worth remembering that Agar.io was created by Matheus Valadares, a 19-year-old Brazilian.

The list also includes Ronda Rousey, an MMA fighter who knocked out Brazil's Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds and later lost the belt to Holly Holm; and Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, whose gender transition took place this year.

Health problems such as microcephaly, multiple sclerosis, and toxoplasmosis also appear on the list. Uber is in third place thanks to the dispute between the company and taxi drivers in several Brazilian cities.
